On Wednesday night, 12/17/15 at the Fire Department’s Station 1, DeKalb’s Firefighters were able to giveaway 82 coats to the children of our great community courtesy of Operation Warm. The DeKalb Fire Department and the DeKalb Classroom Teachers Association came together at Fire Station 1 on Wednesday to hand out the newly purchased coats to eligible children from the DeKalb School District. DeKalb firefighters have spent months raising monies for this project. Fire personnel set up a fund and brought in donations with a chili cook-off and the DCTA teachers identified students in particular need as recipients of the coats.
The Fire Department also has an additional 26 coats to still giveaway. Stay tuned after the 1st of the year for the next event they will have to give those away. The Fire Dept. wishes to thank the great donors that contributed throughout the effort to this great cause. Below are some pictures from last night’s event.
