The DeKalb County Liners have released their roster for the 2011 season. Twenty-six players have committed to play for the Liners this summer. Four players from the 2010 Liners team will be returning, including 2010 Prospect League All-Star, Alex Beckmann and Sycamore graduate, Anthony Foulk. For full roster see the end of this article.
During the academic year, Alex Beckmann plays for Northern Illinois University. In 2010, Beckmann was selected by the Prospect League to compete in the All-Star Game. The game was played at the half-way point in the season and at that time, Beckmann led the Liners in batting average, on-base percentage, walks, hits and runs. He ranked 12th in the Prospect League with a .326 batting average. In 2010, Beckmann was the starting second baseman for the Liners.
Anthony Foulk, a Sycamore High School graduate, will play for the Liners again. He is from Genoa, IL and he graduated from Sycamore High School in 2008. During the academic year, Foulk plays at North Greenville University in Tigerville, SC. Foulk and the North Greenville Crusaders competed in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) 2011 World Series. In 2010, Foulk was the starting catcher for the Liners.
The home opener for the DeKalb County Liners is Saturday, June 4th, 2011 at 7:05 p.m. at Founders Field in Sycamore, Illinois. (Founders Field is located on Airport Road off Route 64.) They will play the Nashville Outlaws. The Liners will play fifty-six regular season games, including twenty-eight at home. The DeKalb County Liners baseball team was established in 2010. They are a part of the Prospect League, a wood-bat summer collegiate baseball league. The League is made up of fourteen teams in seven states. All of the players currently play for a college baseball team.
