Decided to share an e-mail I sent to a couple friends earlier today…
Dear Friends,
As you both know, last year was a very trying year for my family. There were several deaths and many close calls. Working in the insurance field, I have always been passionate about life insurance, but after a year of numerous hardships, my passion to protect families was heightened….
This past year, I set a very lofty goal for myself. I wanted to protect 24 families (2 per month) through proper life insurance and retirement planning. I chose to focus on these two areas because they both directly impact the quality of life that customers experience after a family loses an income.
Year to date, I have assisted 21 families with their life insurance and retirement needs. This is no small feat! I am proud of the role I have played in assisting these families to secure proper protection and I feel privileged to have been allowed participation in such a personal discernment process.
Few insurance agents show this level of concern and commitment to protecting the non-tangible things that really matter—our dreams, our ambitions, our self-worth and our ability to persevere in the face of hardship.
Insurance is about more than protecting cars, houses and the like; it’s about protecting the dignity, the freedom and the control that good financial decisions allow. With only one month left in the year, I am asking you to assist me in achieving my goal to help three more families get protected.
Do you know anyone who needs protection? If so, I am asking you do us both a favor by putting us in contact.
To help you consider whether the people you know need protection, I have identified specific examples of who is likely to need income protection:
Families with small children
Families with debts (mortgage payments, small business loans, car note, student debt, etc.)
Self-employed individuals (need to supply their own life insurance and their own retirement)
Famer’s (life insurance pays their estate taxes so that family can keep their farm)
Those looking to retire soon (need to know their options)
Those needing to accumulate funds for retirement (need to start somewhere!)
Anyone who was recently laid off and doesn’t know what to do with their 401k, 403b, etc. (need to know their options)
Thank you in advance for your help in this matter. I appreciate all of the support and trust you have place in me. I sincerely hope to I finish the year strong by protecting three more families in need of help.
Your Friend,
Kimberly

Most people don’t think about buying life insurance until they’ve got a child on the way. But parents aren’t the only ones who should consider it.
