From August 24-28, Creative Therapeutics is offering its regular weekly classes free of charge. “It’s a way to say ‘thank you’ to our regular students, and also an invitation to those who might be curious to try something new,” says owner Mark Mattson. “We believe we have something to offer every age and fitness level, whether you are just looking for a way to start safely, or to lower stress, or finding the next cross-training advantage.”
Students can pick from a wide range of classes, including a variety of core strengthening classes, yoga, Total Gym Gravity, guided meditation, or senior fitness. While most classes are geared toward beginners, they are adaptable to meet advanced fitness goals. Students develop at their own pace in a safe, personalized environment.
Mattson believes that with health care in such a state of flux, classes at Creative Therapeutics offer outstanding value. Because these classes taught by—or in consultation with—physical therapists, students have regular access to professionals who are experts in movement. “It’s a great opportunity to ask about that shoulder or knee giving you trouble. All our instructors are professionally certified and passionate about what they do.”
More and more, doctors are looking to activities like meditation and yoga as therapies for conditions such as hypertension, balance disorders, and chronic pain. “Creative Therapeutics was founded 17 years ago with a simple vision,” Mattson explains. “We listen to you. We look at your whole health, your whole body. We want to help you to get better, but once you do, we want to give you the tools to thrive—body and mind. That’s what our classes are all about.”
Classes are adaptable and can be very challenging, if needed. “The Total Gym, for example,” says Mattson, “is a super-efficient, 30-minute, full body workout. Because it ingeniously incorporates your body weight as resistance, you can tailor it to be as gentle or tough as you need.” Small class sizes make for a comfortable, low-key, friendly, fun and supportive atmosphere.
Walk-ins are welcome, but please call to reserve a spot for Total Gym Gravity classes. Creative Therapeutics is located at 400 E. Hillcrest Dr. in DeKalb. Call 815-758-5508 or check the website for schedule: wholept.com
