Come to Cortland for their annual Fall Fest this Sunday, October 17th. The 29th Annual Cortland Festival and Parade will kick off Sunday the 17th at 1:00 p.m. and will feature members of local bands, scout troops, clubs and other organizations. Participants also receive hot dogs, chips and a beverage after the parade. This snack is graciously donated by the Cortland Lions Club and Festival & Parade Committee. Parade beginning staging at 11am at N. Loves Road and W. Cortland Center Road. The parade steps off at 1pm. rain or shine. The Parade Committee will be hosting a small festival at Cortland Community Park after the parade. Vendors will offer food for purchase. Beer garden available. Fun for all ages.
The 2010 Mutt Strut is again kicking off the Cortland Parade. Bring your pet. collect pledges and come march in the parade! This is one of TAIL’s biggest fundraisers. For more information about Mutt Strutt, please visit www.tailshumanesociety.org.
Enter a favorite apple dish in the 7th Annual Big Red’s Cortland Apple Cook-Off and win big money. Apple pies, puddings, cakes, cobblers, or cookies – whatever sweet treat you or your family loves best this time of year is eligible for entry in the cook-off, to be held on Sunday, October 17, 2010, following the parade.
All you have to do is create a dish using apples (preferably Cortland variety) from local groceries or orchards. Download, complete and mail the entry form on their website to be eligible for ribbons and prize money. Participants must drop off their entries between 2 and 3 pm, Sunday the 17th. Judging will be held at 3:30 pm in the food tent at Cortland Community Park.
