On February 17th, 2016, the DeKalb Police Department began investigating a report of an aggravated battery to a child. Officers met with the victim and his mother at Kishwaukee Community Hospital. The victim is three years old. The victim sustained injuries to his genitals which caused bruising, swelling and a laceration. The investigation into the abuse led to the arrest of the victim’s mother’s boyfriend, Keith Crist. Crist was upset after learning that the victim soiled his diaper. Crist then struck the victim in the penis with his fist and with a large toy. Crist also struck the victim in the anal area with his fist.
On February 17th, 2016, Keith Crist was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Battery. Crist is twenty one years of age and resides in the 6800 block of Emerald in Chicago, Illinois. Crist is currently incarcerated at the DeKalb County Jail awaiting for his bond to be set.
The DeKalb Police Department encourages the public to notify their local police department or the Department of Children and Family Services if they suspect anyone in abusing children. The DeKalb Police Department would encourage anyone having information regarding this case to contact our Detective Division, Crime Stoppers, or utilize “I Watch” app on your smart phone if you have any information.
