NIU’s College of Engineering and Engineering Technology (CEET) is hosting its fifth annual Tee Up Fore Scholarships golf outing on Wednesday, June 10. Registration for the event, which is in partnership with Caterpillar, Inc., is now available online.
“I’m excited because this is the fifth one, and it has brought in tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship support for the students, so it’s important that we continue to grow the event,” said Todd Burns, CEET Development Officer.
All profits from the event are donated to the CAT and Friends Scholarship fund.
Golfers of all skill levels are invited to the event, which has welcomed hundreds of Caterpillar representatives, CEET students and vendors in past years. CEET alumni and friends of the college are also encouraged to register. The following sponsorships are also available: Contest Hole, Team, Scholarship and Individual.
“I think the most important thing is that the event makes the connection to our alumni base, our industry partners and in making that connection, raises support for our students,” Burns said. “That’s so critical in this day and age as we continue to try and bring the most support for our students as well as continue to make connections to industry.”
Tee Up Fore Scholarships aims to help students’ financial burden of college with scholarships and to bring alumni and industry together. By providing financial support, the fields of engineering and technology are able to keep growing at NIU and in the community.
The event will take place at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club, 7671 Clubhouse Dr., Yorkville, Ill. On the day of the event, registration will begin at 7 a.m. and tee off will be at 9 a.m. At 2 p.m., a lunch and awards ceremony will conclude the day.
“The more active and involved our alumni base is, as well as our industry partners, the more opportunities we can offer our students,” Burns said. “Our goal here at CEET is to ensure that we develop tomorrow’s engineers that can hit the ground running when they become employed after graduation.”
