Family Pumpkin Carving Contest Rules – sponsored by Bountiful Blessings Farm and Hinckley Parks and Recreation – Saturday, October 8 at 9:00am
Rules
Be at the farm with your family on Saturday morning, October 8, 2016 at 9:00am. Fill out the entry form for your family. $10 entry fee per family entry includes pumpkin.
Pick out a pumpkin from the designated area – a Bountiful Blessings Farm helper will assist you if needed. You will have one hour to choose your pumpkin. Carving will start at 10:00am – NO early carving!
Each family should bring the carving tools they desire to use for carving the pumpkin. Carving kits will be allowed. Decorations, paint, props, etc. are also allowed, so be creative! Use your imagination, but be prepared. Stencils may be used also, but you must provide your own. Be sure to have all the supplies you need available at the beginning of the carving session. Once you have arrived, you will not be allowed to gather more tools, supplies or decorations. Battery operated drills or saws are acceptable for use, but no electric tools are allowed.
Families will enter their pumpkins into one of two categories:
• General
• ScariestEach family will be given 90 minutes to complete their pumpkin. Once completed, the pumpkins will be placed on display for judging. The customers and guests will vote on the pumpkins by placing a ticket in a box by each entry. They will get two tickets each to vote; using one per category.
Pumpkins will be judged Saturday afternoon and the winners will be announced at 4:00pm on Saturday, October 8. They will remain on display until Sunday, October 9 at 4pm. The families participating may pick up their pumpkin at that time. Trophies will be given for first place in each category. Ribbons will be given for second and third place in each category. There will also be a trophy for best of show. This will be the pumpkin with the most votes overall. In the event of a tie, Bountiful Blessings Farm management will select a winner.
This is intended to be a family friendly and fun event. Families are encouraged to work together as a team. They would also ask that the pumpkins not reflect vulgar, rude, racist, evil or offensive ideas.
