Indian Valley Theatre will once again be performing their infamous Melodramas at the Sandwich Fair, Sept. 7-11. Audiences will be treated to TWO classic and comedic melodramas chocked full of puns and jokes galore. “Alias Smedley Pewtree or…The Villain of Glitter Gultch” and “Showtime on the Showboat or…Don’t Throw Garbage in the River”.
“Alias Smedley Pewtree…or The Villain of Glitter Gulch”, directed by Gina Palmer, takes audiences to a once roaring gold mining center which has fallen on hard times. A villainous banker, a handsome cowboy, and spirits of long-departed miners all add to this hilarious Melodrama.
The second Melodrama, directed by Sue Graham, is “Showtime on the Showboat or…Don’t Throw Garbage in the River”, which takes place on the River Queen Showboat as it steams down the mighty Mississippi River, complete with a dastardly villain (of course) AND a villainess, a hero and a lovely heroine.
Shows are interactive so come boo, hiss, cheer and clap at this year’s IVT Melodramas at the Sandwich Fair! Tickets are only $3 per show, and are only sold at the Indian Valley Theatre tent at the fair. Seating is first come first serve. Refreshments and popcorn are available for purchase inside the tent. Those that purchase popcorn have due authority to throw the popcorn at the villain as they see fit.
So hitch up the horses and bring the whole family to these exciting Melodramas performed at the Indian Valley Theatre Tent on the East Side of the Fairgrounds, inside the Sandwich Fair, the week of Sept. 7-11, 2016.
