As a part of the inaugural class of 2014, several student pharmacists from the University of Illinois College of Pharmacy at Rockford have partnered with Lehan Drugs in DeKalb to provide a free Blood Pressure and Blood Glucose Screening event on Saturday, April 9th from 9:00am-1:00pm.
A group of four student pharmacists will measure patient’s blood pressure and blood glucose levels. Tim Lehan, owner, will supervise the students and help direct patients to their primary physicians for additional care as appropriate.
“We hope to serve the community through this screening event, and it also gives the University of Chicago at Rockford a chance to build relationships with patients in our area,” says Juhae Lee, APhA Rockford Chapter Board President. “Exemplary pharmacists have well-developed patient relationships, and an event like this gives students a chance to experience and develop those skills.”
“We are pleased to be able to provide this service in conjunction with the Illinois College of Pharmacy,” says Tim Lehan. “This is a fantastic opportunity to educate patients and to provide meaningful feedback to help them improve their overall health.”
The event will be held at the Lehan Drugs location at 1407 S 4th Street in DeKalb and is open to the public. Click here to visit Lehan Drugs’ website.
