DeKalb County Community Foundation won an AT&T* “Investing in Illinois Award” for its non-profit work to help people in Illinois. DeKalb County Community Foundation received$5,000 from AT&T to be distributed to the DeKalb County Long Term Recovery Corporation (DCLTRC) through its DeKalb County Disaster Recovery Fund. The DCLTRC provides direct assistance to the Fairdale community as they continue to rebuilding after an F4 tornado hit the region in April 2015.
“There are great non-profit organizations improving lives in Illinois. By supporting these organizations, we’re strengthening the communities we serve,” said Jaci Kator, external affairs manager, AT&T. Representative Bob Pritchard nominated DeKalb County Community Foundation for the recognition from AT&T Illinois. The AT&T “Investing in Illinois Awards” provide resources and recognition to organizations and programs that improve lives in their communities and the state. They’re advancing education, economic growth, new technologies and other essential community services. DeKalb County Community Foundation Executive Director, Dan Templin, commented, “We appreciate the financial support of partners like AT&T and many others who have responded to the needs of the Fairdale area. The rebuilding and healing process in Fairdale, while it has already begun, will take many more months and the support of many.”
