The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce and the ATHENA Committee are proud to announce the 2016 nominees for ATHENA and Women of Accomplishment. The ATHENA Award recognizes an individual for business and professional accomplishments, community service, and for serving as a role model to encourage women to reach their full leadership potential. The Women of Accomplishment Award recognizes those who embody the ATHENA criteria but who are retired or no longer working. It is a tremendous honor to be considered for this recognition and we are pleased to share the names of this year’s nominees below.
2016 ATHENA nominees:
Lisa Angel – Daily Chronicle
Tynisha Clegg – Family Service Agency of DeKalb County
Susan Johnson – American Title Guaranty, Inc.
Helen Umbdenstock – Helen’s Hair Salon & Spa
2016 Women of Accomplishment nominees:
Joy Gulotta – retired from University of Illinois Extension – DeKalb County Director
Sheryl Nakonechny – retired from DeKalb School District 428 – Teacher
Linda Wahlstrom – retired from DeKalb School District 428 – Nurse
The 27th Annual ATHENA Award Reception will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 in the Lincoln Ballroom at the Red Roof Inn & Suites DeKalb beginning at 6 pm. This event is celebrating 27 years of recognizing the achievements of local women, all of whom have served to mentor and lead others to reach their leadership potential.
