Each year, Altrusa International awards the Returning Women Scholarship to a non-traditional student at Kishwaukee College. This year, Altrusa selected student Meghan Chadra, Sycamore, as the 2014 recipient of the Returning Women Scholarship. Meghan Chadra is a horticulture student at Kishwaukee College. In addition to the scholarship, Altrusa also gave Meghan a copy of the book I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban by Malala Yousafzai.
Altrusa International of DeKalb/Sycamore is a service club whose members include women from various professions. Altrusa annually provides the Returning Women Scholarship to women who are returning to school to pursue a career.
