Alert DeKalb had replaced Code Red and I-Watch

Public Safety Officials Advise All Residents to Sign Up for This New Safety Initiative

The City of DeKalb recently released Alert DeKalb, a new public safety warning system. Alert DeKalb is a free service that allows individuals to sign up for notifications sent from state and local authorities. It also allows citizens to submit tips and complaints directly to the DeKalb Police Department through their cellular phone.

It is important to note that Alert DeKalb has replaced CodeRed and I-Watch, which performed similar functions. Both Code Red and I-Watch will no longer be in service as of Friday, 7/14/17. Residents and travelers to DeKalb can sign up for free at AlertDeKalb.com to receive timely and actionable emergency alerts via email, text or voice message on their cell phones.

Residents can also send tips to Alert DeKalb by texting “67283.” The text message must begin with “AlertDeKalb.” The text will alert the DeKalb Police Department and a telecommunicator can respond to your text. Residents have the ability to remain anonymous while reporting criminal or suspicious activity, quality of life concerns, and any requests for services.
