Ag in the Classroom

The DeKalb County Farm Bureau thanks the nearly 100 volunteers who delivered agricultural presentations and reached nearly 3,200 students as part of the Ag in the Classroom program in February. Here, Eric Lawler explains the parts of the corn kernel to third graders at Brooks Elementary in the “It’s an Earful” presentation.

The Ag in the Classroom presentations are the most widespread outreach effort of DeKalb County Farm Bureau’s Ag Literacy Program. Farm Bureau relies on volunteers to share agricultural messages with students in first through fourth grades. Presentations include, “ More Than a Seed,” “From Cow to Ice Cream,” “It’s an Earful” and “Mapping Illinois Agriculture.”
