(DeKalb) – Meet at the DeKalb Public Library on the second Tuesday of every month for a book club just for seniors.
Meet on Tuesday, May 12, at 11:00 a.m., to discuss The Hornet’s Nest: A Novel of the Revolutionary War by Jimmy Carter.
Humanitarian, historian, and persistent political thinker, Jimmy Carter, our 39th President, is also an awesome storyteller. Read President Carter’s surprisingly human novel about the birth of our nation.
The Hornet’s Nest is a 2003 historical fiction novel by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, focusing on the Revolutionary War in the Deep South, a region often overlooked in traditional accounts. The story follows fictional characters, including a family that moves to Georgia, as they are drawn into the brutal conflict, highlighting the internal strife, shifting loyalties, and the involvement of Native Americans, with some characters based on Carter’s own ancestors. It is notable as the first work of fiction by a U.S. president and is praised for its historical accuracy, with Carter conducting extensive research.
Books will be available in the Adult Services Department. Some large print copies may be attainable. Also available in Libby in audio and eBook form.
This book club is intended for adults. No registration is required. It will be held in the Nancy D. Castle Collaboration Studio. It is part of the America 250 initiative; celebrating our nation throughout the year.
