DeKalb, IL—The DeKalb Park District seeks public opinion for naming the new pool at Hopkins Park. As construction continues with an anticipated Summer 2026 completion date, the District wishes to invite the community to play a role in its future by helping choose the new pool’s official name. The Board of Commissioners and staff have narrowed down several potential names, but the final name will be chosen through a bracket-style showdown and voted on by the public.
After reviewing over 230 name suggestions, the District has chosen eight names to move forward to the quarterfinal voting, which will take place between January 26th and end at 11:59 PM sharp on January 30th. The names have been placed in a bracket-style competition into four matchups, and the winning name in each matchup will move forward to the semifinal voting round beginning on February 2nd.
The public can cast their votes on an online form. This form will be accessible on the District’s website, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn), as well as in an e-blast to their newsletter subscribers.
