The Illinois Valley Community College Board of Trustees approved an expansion of access to campus mental health counseling by hiring a provider to supply virtual services beyond school hours.
Massachusetts-based Uwill Mental Health and Wellness, which serves colleges and universities nationwide, will extend services to evenings, weekends and other periods when the College is closed and on-campus provider Transformative Growth is not available. The Board authorized a one-year contract for $43,000.
Transformative Growth will continue to serve students when the College is in session, and the demand for its services has increased each year since Transformative Growth began providing free or affordable sessions in 2022. President Dr. Tracy Morris indicated that a small number of students opted to continue therapy beyond receiving the four sessions offered for free.
In her monthly report, Dr. Morris also updated enrollment and food pantry figures:
- Though final census figures are a few days away, it appears spring enrollment increased slightly over Spring 2025, with more students taking more credit hours.
- Visits to the campus Eagles Peak food pantry topped 800 in the final quarter of 2025. The pantry supported 200 households, including more than 300 children.
In other action, the Board:
- Learned that the Medical Assisting Program maintained their Initial Accreditation and that the next review will begin in 2028.
- Purchased technology equipment for the Microbiology Lab, classroom audio/visual equipment and digital signage for campus common areas for $72,600 from Intech Innovations, which has supplied other equipment around campus.
- Learned of the appointments of Kara Kozlowski Eisert, adult education specialist, and Katharine Sweger, marketing and communications administrative assistant / information desk receptionist.
