DeKalb Township Informational Booth

The DeKalb Township Supervisor’s office provides financial assistance to qualifying residents through two financial programs. General assistance provides temporary, needs-based assistance to individuals who are not eligible for any other state or federal assistance programs and are underemployed/unemployed or have applied for SSDI/SSI and are unable to work due to a disability. The Emergency Assistance program assists qualifying township residents with alleviating an “emergency” or “life-threatening” circumstance. DeKalb Township also offers many free services including Notary Public, Fax Services, free access to computers and printers, etc. Please visit www.dekalbtownship.org to access their Community Resource Guide, to view Township activities, and to view other available community resources and events taking place in DeKalb. Join others going through grief and loss and receive support in a safe and confidential setting with facilitation from the Family Service Agency of DeKalb County. In this ongoing grief support group, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences with grief, receive insight from peers and the facilitator on the grieving process, and learn more about grief. This group is open to adults experiencing grief from any loss, no matter where they are on this journey. This grief support group does not replace other mental health services. If you need individual counseling or other mental health services, call 211 to find support in your area. In Time: A Live History Experience

The clock is ticking. The sand is slipping through the hourglass. Lives could be at stake; history could be changed. The whole world rests on your shoulders, and time is running out. Will you be In Time? This drop-in event has escape room, quest, and theatre elements. Work with your group and the actors as you explore the library while trying to solve clues and complete your selected tasks. Each character you’ll meet has a unique list of tasks to complete, so be sure to carefully consider which characters you’ll want to help or hinder. Characters and their stories appear in real time as they go about their day. This program runs from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. and takes about one hour to complete. Fargo Skate Party

Keep your kids active this summer with a free beginner skateboard activity at the Fargo Indoor Skate Park! Join Fargo owner, Ariel Ries, for a fun-filled program featuring a story time and craft, a high-flying skate demonstration by professional skateboarders, and instruction on safety and rules for both indoor and outdoor skateboarding. Then, with parent permission, children will get a chance to try skateboarding with a beginner lesson. For optimal protection, children will be loaned a skateboard and fitted with a helmet and protective pads. After instruction, children can use their new skills and stay for a one hour of free skate. This program will be held in the Fargo Indoor Skate Park, located at 641 E Lincoln Hwy, Dekalb, IL 60115. Parents must sign a waiver form provided by Fargo Skate Park for all child participants.
