Today is Veterans Day, so it is with great appreciation and pride that we offer our most sincere thanks to all who have ever worn a military uniform in defense of this great nation. Whether you were an officer or enlisted; served during war or peacetime; served on active duty or in the reserve/National Guard, THANK YOU for your dedicated and selfless service.
Today we’re especially proud to honor our current veterans here in DeKalb County (Illinois). We currently have over 5,000 Air Force, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, and Marine Corps veterans in our community.
DeKalb County area residences and all Americans will have the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans today. In the City of DeKalb, the American Legion Post 66 will Honor Veterans with a Ceremony at the Community Memorial Clock at the corner of 1st Street and Lincoln Hwy (ILL. #38).
The program starts at 11:00 AM.
“A veteran-whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserves is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to ‘The United States of America,’ for an amount of ‘up to and including my life. ‘That is an honor’.”

“The moon gives you light,
And the bugles and the drums give you music,
And my heart, O my soldiers, my veterans,
My heart gives you love.”
~ Walt Whitman
