Music at the Mansion Wednesday featuring Johnny & the Boomers

This summer, the Ellwood House Museum is partnering with Kishwaukee Fest and FunME events to present a new live outdoor music series. “Music at the Mansion” will feature three concerts, one each month in June, July, and August. All concerts start at 7:00 PM on the mansion terrace. Concerts are open to the public and free to attend. Lite refreshments will be available for purchase by Boy Scout Troop 33.

‘Blues at the Mansion’ will happen this Wednesday, June 14, 2017 beginning at 7:00 pm, featuring Johnny and the Boomers. Johnny & The Boomers was born on the muddy banks of the Kishwaukee River, Johnny and The Boomers has been a benchmark of the DeKalb County and Northern Illinois blues sound for over a decade. A five-piece powerhouse blues band playing all varieties of venues, from concert halls, festivals, outdoor gatherings, weddings to the finest bars, taverns, saloons, and juke joints on the map.

Johnny and the Boomers are regularly featured on the WNIJ Friday and Saturday night blues programs, and are currently holding residency at O’Leary’s Irish Pub in downtown DeKalb as the hosts of the only open blues jam on the first Thursday of every month. Comprised of seasoned and accomplished musicians, Johnny and The Boomers play material from Ray Charles to Paul Butterfield, from Tom Waits to Howlin’ Wolf, from Muddy Waters to Eric Clapton, and from Tom Petty to Louis Jordan.

Come on out to the Ellwood House Mansion lawn at 509 N. 1st Street in DeKalb this Wednesday evening for a great evening of free entertainment. Bring a chair or blanket and snacks and enjoy a beautiful evening out in DeKalb!
