Joseph R. Hannon
On December 7 th , 2016 Joseph R. Hannon, a 21 year old resident of the 1700 block of DeKalb Avenue in Sycamore was taken into custody and charged with crimes related to inappropriate contact with a 9 year old girl. The incident occurred on November 25 th when Hannon, an Energym employee, placed his hands on her hips and pressed his lower body against her while she was bending over using a drinking fountain. An investigation was conducted during which detectives were able to collect video evidence of the incident. Subsequent to interviews with the suspect and witnesses he was taken into custody. Hannon was charged with one count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse Class 2 Felony. Hannon (see photo below) was transported to the DeKalb County Jail where he will be held prior to a December 8 th bond hearing.
Sycamore Police Chief Glenn Theriault wants the community to know that “Our investigation is ongoing. If anyone is concerned their child may have been victimized they I ask that they contact the Sycamore Police Department Investigations Division at 815-895- 5435.”
The public is reminded that an arrest is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
