Arthur Kelly Swan, 63, (Wisconsin Dells) died Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, WI following a long and difficult struggle with cancer. He was born December 22, 1953 in Beardstown, IL, the son of Charles and Mickie (Bray) Swan.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, Mary (Perry) Swan; his sons, Adam (Michelle) Swan (Wisconsin); Kelly (Jennifer) Maness (Mississippi), James (Johnnie) Maness (Mississippi) his daughters, Patsy Swan (DeKalb), Charley Swan (Wisconsin Dells); granddaughters Jaylynn, Lyric, Cinnamon, Kimy, Donna, Savannah, Maegan, Kyla; grandsons Skyler, Dakota, Cole and Ashton. Great grandchildren Kalem and Malika He is survived by his sisters Shari McIntyre (DeKalb), Julie Smith (Green Bay), Paula (Jim) Wilfong (Rio, WI) and Rose Swan (Danville) and a brother Mac (Albert Swan) McIntyre (Grace Mott); and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Kalem “Leroy” Swan, a daughter Andrea “Andi” Swan; a brother Michael Swan, a sister Dixie Rogers and brothers-in-law Rick McIntyre and Richard Smith.
He served in the US Army stationed at Ft. Ord (California), Ft. Riley (Kansas) and Operation Reforger in Mannheim, Germany.
Mr. Swan like his father before him was a lifelong commercial fisherman and fur trapper and he became an expert tree trimmer. He made trammel and hoop nets along with catfish and turtle traps by hand from scratch. He greatly enjoyed telling stories and teaching about the great outdoors.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Monday, December 19 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Sycamore with Pastor Steve Persson officiating. Food and refreshments will be provided following the service.
