DeKalb’s Annual Loose Leaf Collection continues through the end of November. Leaves are collected Monday through Friday from 7am to 4pm. Residents should rake leaves into a narrow row parallel to the backside of the curb. Vacuum trucks traveling curbside will pick up the leaves. Leaf piles must be free of debris such as large tree branches and rocks. To help prevent street flooding, do not place leaves in the street.
Crews will collect leaves through the end of November as follows:
Tuesday, November 1nd through Friday, November 4th – All Areas south of, and including, Lincoln Highway
Monday, November 7th through Thursday, November 10th – north of Lincoln Highway
Monday, November 14th through Friday, November 18th – south of, and including, Lincoln Highway
Monday, November 21st through Wednesday 23rd and Monday, November 28th through
Wednesday, November 30th, – Final Pass – All Areas throughout DeKalb
If a section is completed, crews may move to the other section for one pass before returning to the assigned section.
City offices are closed and there will be no leaf collection on the following days:
• Friday, November 11th Veterans Day
• Thursday, November 24th Thanksgiving
• Friday, November 25th
SCHEDULE AND LOCATIONS MAY CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS
Waste Management will also pick up your leaves, curbside, on your regularly scheduled garbage day. However, leaves must be placed in biodegradable yard-waste bags or open garbage cans. Leaves placed in plastic bags will not be collected. Also, for residents’ convenience, landscape waste dumpsters will remain in place through November 30th
. Plastic bags are strictly prohibited from being placed in the dumpsters. Landscape waste dumpsters are located at the following locations:
• Southeast corner of North 7th Street and Oak Street.
• Fire Station #2 – 1154 South 7th Street.
• City Garden Plots – 950 West Dresser Road
