Come join the free family fun at Pioneer Days at the Kishwaukee Valley Heritage Society in Genoa this Sunday, August 28th, from 10am until 4pm. Learn a new (old) skill! Skills are demonstrated that were used by the Pioneer Families in the 1800’s to include rope making, searching for gold, children games, laundry, candle making, printing press, quilting, tatting, embroidery, making of wood spoons, shelling corn, making of bean bags and playing the bean bag toss, and many more exhibits. See a re-enactment of bandits and posse conflict, making of corn bread and butter, honey extraction, mountain man tools with “housing”, authentic stage coach rides, and enjoy a hot meal from the Lions Club while the museum sells homemade pies.
No vendors are present at Pioneer Day. There are only pies being sold by the museum and the Lions Club sells a hot meal—roasted corn, pork sandwiches with trimmings. The Museum is located on Il. Rt. 72 in downtown Genoa.
