The newly formed DeKalb Area Arts Council invites the public to attend their Arts Summit on Monday, November 16 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Egyptian Theatre in Downtown DeKalb.
The Arts Council seeks the input from the entire arts sector including visual art, theatre, dance, music, design and architecture, film & media, literature, and more. Those interested in the arts, supporters of the arts, patrons of the arts, or businesses supporting the arts are all invited to participate in this planning conversation. There is no cost to attend.
At the Arts Summit the Arts Council will provide a brief overview of how the Council was formed and what the vision of the organization is. The Summit will feature facilitated small table discussions covering the following topics: what does a thriving arts community look like, what does the area currently offer and excel in the arts, what challenges does the local arts community face, what solutions are needed to solve these challenges, and what value can the Arts Council bring to you and the community?
Following the small table discussions there will be a facilitated large group conversation to prioritize some of the topics for the Arts Council to explore in the coming year. Additionally there will be a presentation on a new initiative coming soon for DeKalb called the A.C.E. (Arts, Cultural, and Entertainment) Corridor.
The DeKalb Area Arts Council Board of Directors leadership will be in attendance and includes President Alex Nerad, Vice President Jennifer Jeep Johnson, Secretary Deb Loitz, Debbie Armstrong, David Barrow, Billie Giese, David Olson, Heather Priest, and Alicia Schatteman.
