We have unfortunately had to burn fires two nights so far this spring due to low temps threatening our developing apple blossoms. There was a frost in the early morning of 4/23 and 4/24 keeping our family members up all night burning fires to protect the buds from freezing. Several freezing events in 2012 caused severe crop loss throughout the midwest in apples, peaches, and cherries. We have been checking buds throughout the orchard and it looks like our damage was marginal so far, so no worries just yet!! But say a little prayer that the temps stay above freezing for the next two weeks now that our trees are just starting bloom!!
