Join Safe Passage and others in the community this Thursday, April 16th, 2015 for a free 7pm showing of ‘The Hunting Ground’ at the Egyptian Theatre. This movie has been brought to DeKalb to raise awareness and start an important conversation in this community with two college campuses. One in every five college students are victims of sexual assault. It is a hugely un- and under-reported crime and they want everyone to be aware and to discuss risk factors as well as how to be safe.
From the team behind ‘The Invisible War’, comes a startling exposé of rape crimes on U.S. campuses, institutional cover-ups and the brutal social toll on victims and their families. Weaving together verité footage and first-person testimonies, the film follows survivors as they pursue their education while fighting for justice — despite harsh retaliation, harassment and pushback at every level.
Stay for a Panel Discussion after the showing. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 135 N. 2nd Street in downtown DeKalb. To learn more about the movie now, click here: http://www.thehuntinggroundfilm.com. This film is free and open to the public.
