Jo Cessna, Culinary Instructor with Community Wellness of Kish Health Systems, will present information about early spring greens. She will provide information about identifying spring greens, how to prepare them, and provide delicious recipes. This is the first in a series of free public presentations and demonstrations on using fresh produce to prepare delicious healthy meals. After each presentation will be a meeting of the DeKalb County Community Gardens (DCCG) organization.
The DeKalb County Community Gardens need your help as they plan the community orchard and food forest this year. They need people to help with the bees and they need volunteers for the gardens. DCCG hopes to raise 50,000 pounds of food this year, so they need many hands and hearts!
Both events are free and open to the public. The evening runs from 5:30pm to 7:30pm this Tuesday, March 4th, 2014. Everyone is welcome to attend one or both of the back-to-back events which take place at the Unitarian Universalist Church of DeKalb, 158 North Fourth Street, DeKalb. For more information call 815-793-0950 or visit them on Facebook.
