This is Bluegill Contest Weekend at Shabbona Lake – July 13th & 14th, 2013, from 6am – 7pm. Bluegill is the State Of Illinois Fish. Bluegill is also the fish that make memories of families fishing with their children, saying “There goes the bobber again”. Every mom, dad, grandpa or grandma dreams of those days. Join them at Shabbona Lakeside for Bluegill weekend and make your memories.
This is a family event. As a family, you can gather up your 10 largest Bluegill and bring them to Lakeside for weigh-in. There is a limit of one prize per family. If you sign up on Saturday, you are also signed up for Sunday, you do not need to reregister.
Prizes are, for 1st Place – Choice of $100 gift certificate at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental or an all-day weekday Pontoon or all day weekday Bass Boat Rental; for 2nd Place – Choice of $50 gift certificate at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental or an all-day weekday Motor Boat Rental and for 3rd Place – Choice of $25 gift certificate at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental or an all-day Weekday Kayak or Canoe Rental.
Sign up at Lakeside Bait, Tackle & Boat Rental. You must sign up and donate $5 To the Walleye Restocking Fund Prior to Your Catch to Qualify. All entrees must be caught at Shabbona Lake between 6 AM Saturday, July 13th and 7 PM Sunday, July 18th. Fish must be alive when measured. They encourage catch & release, as soon as the fish is measured. One witness must be present to verify your catch, when you enter your catch.
