Survivor and John Waite will be rockin’ the house at the Egyptian Theatre on Friday, May 17 at 7:30 pm, and for the first time in Survivor’s history, four original band members will hit the stage. Survivor’s concert at the Egyptian is the only chance in Illinois (out of Survivor’s announced US and European tour dates) to see these legends perform together!
Chicago native Frankie Sullivan couldn’t “Hold Back” and has reunited four original members of Survivor, including himself, both lead vocalists Dave Bickler and Jimi Jamison and drummer Mark Droubay. “Our fans are the best and I can’t think of a better way to give them our best. With this line-up, and both Dave and Jimi in the band, we can perform ALL of our hits,” says guitarist Frankie Sullivan.
Bickler was Survivor’s lead singer from 1977–1983 and again from 1993–1999. He is the voice of the band’s biggest hit, “Eye of the Tiger” which held the #1 spot for seven weeks on the Billboard charts. “Eye of the Tiger” earned Survivor the GRAMMY® Award for “Best Rock Performance By A Duo, Or Group With Vocal,” and was voted “Best New Song” by the People’s Choice Awards. The song also received Academy® Award and Golden Globe nominations. “Eye of the Tiger” remains a cultural phenomenon and is one of the most downloaded rock songs of all time, selling more than 3.5 million track downloads in the U.S.
Jimi Jamison rejoined the band in 2012. The band’s first album with Jamison, Vital Signs is still praised by fans and critics alike as one of the best AOR albums of all time and includes the top 10 hits, “High On You,” “I Can’t Hold Back” and the #1 song, “The Search Is Over.”
