Kirkland mayor, Les Bellah, has announced his intentions to run for re-election in the April 2013 consolidated elections. Bella began as trustee on the Village of Kirkland Board in 1983 and served 14 years in that capacity. In 1997 he was first elected to mayor’s office and served eight years. He took a two year hiatus to “recharge his batteries” for two years and then ran for seat on the board as trustee, serving two years.

In 2008, Bellah was again elected to serve as mayor. He also serves on the DeKalb County Regional Plan Commission and is a member of the DCEDC.
Recently Bellah was slated and elected as Secretary/Treasurer to the Northern Illinois Mayor’s Association.
“I have always been honored to serve all the people who choose live in the Village of Kirkland,” said Bellah, “and I am proud to call Kirkland my home.”

I’ve never met a mayor yet who has pleased everyone. That being said, I’ve never met a harder working, more honest mayor anywhere either.

PLEASE PLEASE SAY THAT SOMEONE ELSE WILL RUN!

Can’t think of a more caring and knowing individual. He was even a HARD working kid, by age 11. 🙂 Hope he wins. The Village will, as well.

He is a terrible mayor. He does nothing and it took 3 years to get a 4 day bridge completed. I hope that someone else will run for the sake of our town. We have no new business, we have only lost business. Kirkland needs someone motivated to work.
