The DeKalb County 911 System has been temporarily operational since about 1:30am as all DeKalb County 911 calls are being routed to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, and are then being transferred to all appropriate agencies. It is possible a 911 caller will receive a busy signal because under current circumstances, only one 911 call can be received at a time. If a busy signal is received, the Sheriff’s Department recommends that caller call their local law enforcement agency or fire department’s 10 digit number or retry calling 911. For rural DeKalb County, the 10 digit number is 815-895-2155, for DeKalb Police 815-748-8400, for Sycamore Police 815-895-2123, for Genoa Police 815-784-2526, Sandwich Police 815-784-2131 and NIU Police 815-753-1212. All agencies listed can contact appropriate Fire Departments.
