Curious as to how this event worked out. Did anyone from the school board or any other taxing bodies attend? Good for Kristen in trying to connect…but aren’t all those listed above Democrats? Are there any Republicans, Independents, Libertarians in the Third Ward? I imagine if she could get some of those leaders to speak, there might be a more balanced attendance…but just who did attend? Was the meeting a success in Kristen’s view? How can we encourage public participation in local affairs without partisanship?

I know she invited both Pritchard and Johnson who are of the Republican party.
Kerry, your very labeling of an effort in which public officials were invited from all political approaches as a partisan effort might be one of the problems we face in reducing partisanship.
I’ve attended both as a citizen and as a volunteer committee member several ward meetings, my own ward as a citizen, and I think in Kristen’s ward (assuming that was Donna’s a while back) as a committee member. Ron in my district (he is a republican by the way) answers (sometimes at too great length) any and all questions posed. But only a handful ever show up to ask them and one some meetings I was the youngest (sic) in the audience. . The first meeting in Donna’s ward, did fill up most of the council chambers (I never got my turn to speak) and good questions were posed.
Kristen should be praised, not questioned on partisanship. If i remember correctly I’ve tried some bridge building with the libertarian right that has not even returned my phone calls to respond to invitations to talk and eat together. Hint. Hint.
