Another aggressive year of resurfacing roads and alleys is being proposed in DeKalb, bringing the total investment in local streets to $19.4 million since 2019.
The City Council will consider a $3 million 2026 Street Maintenance Program that would resurface nearly six miles of local roads and alleys. This funding is in addition to other infrastructure improvements supported by state and federal grants.
Highlights of the proposed work include:
• Resurfacing Hillcrest Drive (Sycamore Rd to Normal Rd)
• Improvements to roads in Market Square Mall (funded by the shopping center’s Special Service Area)
• Multiple residential streets and alleys across the city
Construction is expected to take place May through August, followed by updates to a new five-year street improvement plan.
