Since the early 18th century, Victor Hugo has remained a central figure and a literary titan in realm of French Romanticism. His writings have served as the basis for motion pictures, stage plays, musical compositions and many other forms of media.
During this program, hosted by the DeKalb Public Library on Thursday, May 22, at 6:00 p.m., we will examine several of his writings, and how they inspired operas, musicals and symphonic poems by Jules Massenet, Franz Liszt, Claude-Michel Schönberg and Giuseppe Verdi.
This program is free and intended for teens and adults. No registration is required. It will be held in the lower-level Zimmerman Meeting Room.
