A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued Sunday,November 23 at 3:26PM CST until Tuesday November 25 at 12:00AM CST by NWS Chicago. A low pressure system will bring snow and windy conditions to the area Monday. An area of low pressure over the Northern Plains will slide southeast across the western Great Lakes tonight. Meanwhile, a second area of low pressure will lift northeast from the southern plains.
These two low pressure systems will consolidate over southern Lake Michigan late tonight and quickly deepen. as this system intensifies, much colder air will arrive and change rain over to snow. There may be a preiod of a wintery mix during the transition, but should be rather quick. Southwest winds will quickly turn west to northwest and increase to 20 to 30mph with some gusts nearing 40mph.
The ocminiation of gusty winds and snowfall may create areas of blowing snow and reducted visibilities mainly in the afternoon through Monday evening. Winter Weather Advisory in effect from noon MOnday to midnight cst Monday night. The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and blowing snow, which is in effect from noon Monday to midnight cst Monday Night.
Snow accumulations – 3-5 inches. Locally higher totals along and north of a Pecatonica to Popular Grove line. Winds, west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts nearing 40 mph.
Impact: as temperatures drop below freezing roads may become snow covered and slippery, especially during the afternoon and evening. Blowing snow will also cause reduced visibilities especially on north/south roadways later Monday into Monday evening.
