One of the latest trends in kitchen design is the addition of warming drawers – small appliances designed to keep cooked food warm, or even warm dishes while you prepare to serve dinner. Warming drawers can be designed to look like a standard kitchen drawer, or can be built into the bottom of a stove. They are a great addition for a busy family that eats at different times, for example. In some cases, previously cooked meals can be kept warm for as long as six hours.
Most warming drawers come with settings for a variety of food types, including moisture controls and crisp or dry settings. The heating element usually turns on and off as it works to maintain the best temperature for each setting, so it doesn’t have to remain on throughout warming.
At Atherton Appliance & Kitchens and BSC Culinary, we offer a variety of warming drawers from premium appliance brands. Bosch, for example, sells warming drawers in stainless steel, black, or white, and in 27″ or 30″ sizes. The company’s HWD3050UC is a built-in warming drawer designed for use in combination with the Bosch wall oven. Two of its major features are the Moisture Selector, which adjusts the humidity level inside the drawer, and the ClearTouch® Glass Control, a touch panel that features high-quality materials and elegant design, while giving complete access to all of the warming drawer’s many features. The control indicators are easy to use and to clean, and will never fade because they are sealed under the glass surface.
Dacor, meanwhile, offers a variety of warming drawers in sizes ranging from 24″ to 30″. The company’s Indoor-Outdoor integrated warming drawer is approved for outdoor use, and can be installed with an optional stainless steel accessory panel. It can be integrated into an outdoor kitchen along with the Dacor 52″ or 36″ Outdoor Grill. The drawer will keep grilled food – or even towels – toasty and warm. If you want to use this model indoors, it comes with a custom panel.
Sharp’s warming drawers are outfitted with concealed auto-touch controls that are precise and easy to use. The company’s KB-6100NK is outfitted with six temperature settings, from 90° F Proof to 230° F High, preset times from 30 minutes to 4 hours plus Continuous On, Variable Humidity Control from moist to crisp, and a large stainless steel interior and included half rack. The KB-6100NK drawer is available in black.
Viking offers three lines of warming drawers: Professional Series, Designer Series, and Custom Panel. The Professional Series offers custom drawers with temperature settings from 90F – 250 degrees F, a low setting for bread proofing, and a high setting that keeps soups and sauces hot. The Versatile Moisture-Selector Control allows you to control warming conditions from the outside in, and the Optional Pan/Lid Set features heavy-gauge stainless steel commercial pans and lids for the perfect optional warming drawer accessory. The Designer series offers the same features and can be mounted as a standard installation or flush-mount with the use of an accessory trim kit, and the custom panel line offers custom exterior panels.
These are just a few of the warming drawers available through our showrooms. We also carry drawers from other premium brands, including Miele, Gaggenau, GE, Jenn-Air, Thermador, and Wolf. Please feel free to stop by one of our showrooms to ask our qualified staff about warming drawers.
