The newest education center to spring from Illinois Valley Community College soil has received a substantial donation from one of the oldest businesses rooted in the Illinois Valley.
The donation from the 177-year-old W.H. Maze Co. — which includes Maze Lumber and Maze Nails — will help fund the new campus soil laboratory in the 10,000-square-foot Dr. Alfred E. Wisgoski Agricultural Education Center.
“Maze is honored to support IVCC in the development of this new facility,” said Roelif Loveland, president of Maze Company. “We believe investing in cutting-edge educational infrastructure is essential to cultivating the next generation of agricultural leaders and innovators. Together, we are helping to build a foundation for progress and sustainability in agriculture.”
IVCC President Dr. Tracy Morris acknowledged the company’s contribution. “We extend our sincere gratitude to the Maze Company and the family for their generous and impactful contribution to this building campaign at IVCC. Their commitment plays a pivotal role in advancing our efforts to provide state-of-the-art facilities that will enrich the educational experience of students for years to come and create an innovative soil lab for our students.”
Maze Lumber was founded in 1848 in Peru, followed later that century by the Nail Division of W.H. Maze Co., known as Maze Nails. The company has a long history of supporting the local community and education.
