This Saturday, September 18th is the annual Sycamore Block Party. Enjoy Kid’s Activities, Games, Petting Zoo, Food, beer garden, bags tournament and live music by “Red Woody”. This annual event is loads of free fun for the whole family.
At 3:30pm break out the black and gold for the Sycamore Pride Kids Parade leaving from the Midwest Museum of Natural History as it makes its way down State Street to the Block Party. All ages are welcome and the best dressed bike/wagon will receive a prize! There will be kid’s activities including games, crafts, a large sandbox and much more. Magician Tim Glander will be on hand with his balloon animal friends.
Parents, teens and younger children can all enjoy the challenge of the inflatable jousting ring and obstacle course or team up for the YPS Bags tournament. Kid’s can participate in the cupcake eating contest, hula-hooping contest, or both! At 5:30pm the musical entertainment begins; relax on the ‘lawn seating’ and enjoy music from “Funky Luv”. Then at 8pm get ready to get down with local favorite “Red Woody” as they rock the night away on the stage. For the family rock star, there is an air guitar competition at 9pm on the main stage.
The festivities all happen in Downtown Sycamore, on Somonauk Street, between Elm and State Streets from 3-11pm. For further information call the Discover Sycamore office at 895-3456.

And don’t forget that the Sycamore Movie Theater will be playing the movie, “Jurassic Park,” all weekend (and into next week) with proceeds from admission (just 25 cents!) going to the Midwest Museum of Natural History — their neighbor right across the street.
