Today, women of all ages are more active than ever in sports and other fitness activities. Yet from childhood through adolescence and adulthood, women face different orthopedic and tissue-based challenges than do their male counterparts. Join us at the beautiful new DeKalb Public library for a free, wide-ranging discussion of these challenges, including common injuries women face at different stages in their development as well as what can be done to help prevent injury and stay strong and flexible. Parents, coaches, athletes of any age–all are welcome! Sam Eakes, DPT, is a physical therapist at Creative Therapeutics in DeKalb. Sam played for the NIU Volleyball team, serving as its director of operations during her time in graduate school. Inat addition to a general orthopedic practice, Sam is keenly interested in treating and educating female athletes and helping her patients reach their fullest potential.
