The University of Illinois Extension will host a Soil and Water Management Seminar this Wednesday, February 26, 2014. Presentations will be delivered via PowerPoint and web conferencing from 9 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. at the DeKalb County Extension Office inside the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, (1350 W Prairie Drive in Sycamore). The following presentations will be made:
- Cover Crops in Illinois – Dr. Joel Gruver, Western Illinois University
- Using Wetlands to Reduce Nutrient Loading from Tile – Dr. David Kovacic, University of Illinois
- The Role of Soil Management in Reducing Impacts of Weather Variation – Dr. Jerry Hatfield, USDA-ARS
- Effects of 2011 Flooding and Levee Breaches on Agricultural Lands of the Ohio and Mississippi River Valleys – Dr. Ken Olson, University of Illinois
- Vertical Tillage Equipment – Dr. Tony Vyn, Purdue University
The registration fee is $50 per person, which will include the program and lunch. 5 hours of Certified Crop Adviser Credit in soil & water management are available.
