Santa Comes to DeKalb, Sycamore and Genoa this week! On Thursday, December 3rd, 2015, Santa Comes to downtown DeKalb. The evening will begin at 6:00 pm in the Egyptian Theatre lobby, 135 N. 2nd. Street, with free cookies, cocoa, and caroling. At 7:00 pm, Santa will make his way to town. Once Santa arrives to his house in Van Buer Plaza, children will have the opportunity to visit with Santa until 8:00 pm that evening.
Sycamore’s Walk With Santa is this Friday, December 4, 2015. Bring the family down to the State Street Theater in downtown Sycamore at 4:00 pm on Friday to view a free movie! After the movie, bundle up and join them in front of the Sycamore State Street Theater at 6:00 pm to welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to Sycamore. Parade Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves through downtown Sycamore to the courthouse lawn where, with your help, Santa will light up the holiday tree. Santa will be anxious to make his way to his Santa House where children can present him with their wish list.
The magic of Christmas is coming to Genoa “Celebrate the Season” this Friday, December 4th, from 6 – 8pm in downtown Genoa. This year Celebrate the Season will have many of Genoa’s traditional holiday activities, including free wagon rides, live petting zoo and warming fires, located at the downtown parking lot. Face painting at American Family Insurance, letters to Santa at provided by Resource Bank, storytelling at the Genoa Public Library, Christmas caroling from the G.K. high school choir, holiday music from the G.K. Jazz band, charity booths, vendors with free hot chocolate, cookies and coffee.
Christmas karaoke with DJ Jamie Frye will be at the Corner Grill, a gingerbread house contest at Latsis Bakery, stylized portraits and fun Holiday photo booth at Crumpet’s, live music and wine tasting at Prairie State Winery and a visit to Cademon’s Brewery! There will be something for everyone!
The Jingle Bell Parade begins at 6p.m. and features Santa and Mrs. Clause coming to town by the G-K Fire Department. After the parade join them for the lighting of our community Christmas tree.
Children can write letters to Santa at The Library and visit Santa in his house at its location next to Everything Floral on Main Street. Every child that visits Santa will receive a coloring boo.
Genoa’s charming downtown shops will be open for your entire gift giving needs. Special offers and discounts will be available. The stores are decorated beautifully and it enhances the holiday spirit of the evening.
