Bovi’s Grandma Lilia Remond Needs our support!
Lilia Remond is fighting MDS – Pre Leukemia. A serious blood disorder that affects the bone marrow. On September 17th Lilia received a bone marrow/stem cell transplant. Her journey has been unimaginable in that it has been emotional, painful, frustrating and difficult.
Her fight and journey is a very long road. Many steps need to be followed in order to ensure that she can pull through this and be forever cured. She is currently in phase 2 of a 3 phase process. Phase 2 consists of her being in “isolation.” Lilia is living in a hotel suite for 100 days. Her immune system was completely taken away from chemo and radiation. Therefore her body needs time and extreme care in order to build itself back up to the strength she needs to survive.
Insurance does NOT COVER the expenses that come along for the patients and their families:
She is required to stay in a hotel suite for 100 days, that is within 20 minutes of Loyola in case of any critical emergencies that require medical attention. Hotel stay not covered by insurance.
She is required to have 24 hour caretakers monitoring her health, temperature, administering 15 different types of medications, meals, daily exercise, etc. Caretakers not covered by insurance.
She needs to have food and sanitary products to last her entire hotel stay. Expenses not covered by insurance.
Many people, friends, neighbors, church members, friends of friends, have asked how can I help?
Huckleberry’s Pet Parlor will be a drop off point for items needed. Please see the list of items needed to support Lilia during this difficult time.
