DeKalb will be busy this Saturday with NIU Homecoming Day. The day kicks off with the Homecoming 5K starting at 7:30 AM. Hosted by Campus Recreation, the 5K race begins at the Student Recreation Center.
A long-standing Huskie Homecoming tradition, the Homecoming Parade brings Huskies and members of the DeKalb and Sycamore communities together to troop through downtown DeKalb and end in the parking lot of the Chick Evans Field House in a premier showcase of Huskie spirit before the big game. The Homecoming Parade starts at 9:00am Saturday.
Join fellow alumni at the Barsema Alumni and Visitors Center (BAVC) Alumni Village starting at 11am for a pregame tailgate on Saturday sponsored once again by GEICO.
Meet NIU President John Peters as you visit the tents hosted by the academic colleges and other NIU organizations. The pregame tailgating will include entertainment and a performance by the Huskie Marching Band. Concessions will be available for purchase.
The NIU vs. Western Michigan Football Game kicks off at 2:30pm on Saturday at the Huskie Stadium. Comcast SportsNet Chicago will televise the Northern Illinois-Western Michigan game to its coverage area, which includes all of Illinois. In addition, the game can be seen in the rest of the country on ESPN GamePlan and online at WatchESPN.com.
Kansas and NIU Philharmonic Orchestra will play at the NIU Convocation Center at 8:00pm Saturday. The 2011 KANSAS Collegiate Symphony Tour will help raise funds and awareness for college and university music programs.
From 7:00pm to 10:00pm is the ‘Rep Yo Step Show‘ in the Duke Ellington Ballroom, hosted by the National Pan-Hellenic Council & Campus Activities Board.
Finishing out Homecoming day will be a Glow in the Dark Party from 11:00pm to 4:00am in the Student Recreation Center.
