Originally called Decoration Day, as the family members of the fallen of the Civil War would go to the graves and place flags and flowers. The 2018 Mayors’ Memorial Day Breakfast scheduled for Monday, May 28th is open to the public. Veterans and non-veterans are welcome. It is a way to come together before going to local community Memorial Day Ceremonies. The cost is $10.00 per person RSVP prepaid or $15.00 paid at the door. The breakfast is at 6:45 am and will be held at the DeKalb Elks in DeKalb off of South Annie Glidden Road.
The breakfast has been held on Monday, Memorial Day for the past 27 years. The first three years were called Breakfast with the General, the last 24 years the breakfast has been commonly known as the The Mayors’ Memorial Day Breakfast. The Memorial Day Breakfast has been held at numerous locations in Sycamore and DeKalb but most often at Carl’s Fargo in Sycamore. The last three years have been held at the DeKalb Elks.
To RSVP prepay, Please make checks payable to: Beierlotzer – 2018 Breakfast. In the memo section or on a sheet of paper please list the names of who you are paying for.
