Election day is November 8, 2016.The last day to register, in person, for the November 8th, 2016 General Election is 10/11/2016; however, On-line Paperless Registration is available through midnight on 10/23/2016. You can register to vote in person at the DeKalb County Administration Bldg-110 E Sycamore Street, in Sycamore.
Requirements to register:
- Age: Must be 18 on or before Election Day. A 17 year old may register and vote in a Primary Election if they will be 18 on or before the next General Election.
- Identification: Two (2) forms of Identification are required, one (1) proving your physical residential DeKalb County address. A Post Office Box, nor a Business address may be used as a residential address; they may however, be used as a Mail to address. You must also provide either
your Driver’s License/State I.D. number or the last four (4) digits of your Social Security Number.
A Mail-in Registration form may also be used to register, but must be postmarked on or before 10/11/2016. You may obtain the Mail-in form from the State Board of Elections website here. This form must be mailed to: DeKalb County Clerk, 110 E Sycamore St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
Grace Period Registration: Begins 10/12/2016 and ends 11/08/2016 at 7:00 p.m. and is available to all DeKalb County residents on Election Day to register for the first time, change their address or do a name change and Vote. Two (2) forms of identification are required, at least one (1) containing a DeKalb County residential address. Please see the Early & Grace Period Voting Schedule at http://dekalb.il.clerkserve.com.
Online paperless voter registration (through the County) ends October 23, 2016. For On-line Paperless Registration please visit the Illinois State Board of Elections website here. You must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License or State I.D. number, the issue date of the Identification and the last four (4) digits of your Social Security number. Please be accurate in your data entry so that your registration is be processed.
Same Day Registration: Is Precinct Specific and available to all DeKalb County residents on Election Day to register for the first time, change their address or do a name change and Vote, in their Precinct/Polling Place. Two (2) forms of identification are required, at least one (1) containing a DeKalb County residential address. If you do not know, in which Precinct you reside, please call the Elections office at 815-895-7147 or visit one of the Election Day Registration Centers on Election Day.
Election Day Registration Center: DeKalb County has 3 Election Day Registration Centers (a.k.a. Same Day Registration Centers) where DeKalb County residents may register for the first time, change their address or do a name change and Vote; two (2) forms of identification are required, at least one (1) containing a DeKalb County residential address. Election Day Registration Centers are not Polling Places, if you are an already Registered Voter you must Vote at your assigned Precinct/Polling Place. The Election Day Registrations Centers are located at the following: DeKalb County Administration Bldg-110 E Sycamore Street, Sycamore; Holmes Student Center-in the Blackhawk Annex; DeKalb Township Building-2323 S 4th Street, DeKalb. Election Day Registration Centers are open from 6:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m..
