Kishwaukee College is offering American Heart Association CPR and First Aid courses beginning in November, including certification/re-certification classes specifically for Healthcare Providers. Each class costs $55 and will be held at Kishwaukee College in Room B2301. The required textbooks for each class are available at the Kishwaukee College Bookstore and are not included in the cost of the class. Participants should wear comfortable clothing to class. To receive certification, no part of the class can be missed.
Heartsaver AED/CPR is designed to provide lay rescuers information on when to phone 911, how to give CPR, how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator), and how to provide relief of choking. Adult and child CPR and AED and infant CPR will be covered. This class will be offered on Saturday, November 5 from 8:00a.m. – 12:30p.m. and a second class will be offered on Monday, December 12 from 5:30 – 10:00p.m.
Heartsaver First Aid is designed to provide individuals with the critical lifesaving skills to care for a victim of an illness or injury until EMS arrives. General principles of first aid, how to take action in a medical emergency and specific steps for treating injuries will be presented. This class is offered on Tuesday, November 15 from 5:30 – 10:00p.m.
CPR for the Healthcare Provider designed for certification, as well as recertification, to cover the role of healthcare providers who respond to cardiovascular and respiratory emergencies. Proper CPR skills, the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), relieving foreign body airway obstructions, and using a bag mask will be presented. This class will be offered at a wide variety of days and times to better accommodate Healthcare Providers schedules.

Monday, November 7 from 5:30 – 10:00p.m.; Wednesday, November 9 from 5:30 – 10:00p.m.;
Friday, December 2 from 2:00 – 6:30p.m.; Monday, December 5 from 5:30 – 10:00p.m.;
Wednesday, December 7 from 5:30 – 10:00p.m.; Thursday, December 8 from 8:30 – 1:00p.m.;
Friday, December 9 from 1:00 – 5:30p.m.; Tuesday, December 13 from 4:30 – 9:00p.m.; and
Thursday, December 15 from 2:00 – 6:30p.m.
