Kishwaukee College Radiologic Technology graduates participated in a traditional pinning ceremony on Saturday, June 27 in Jenkins Auditorium in the Kishwaukee College Conference Center.
The 2015 Radiology graduates are: Nichole Albrecht, Durand; Brandi Beisner, Kingston; Cheryl Bradt, Sycamore; Gary Covell, Rochelle; Julia Galindo, DeKalb; Jodi Graf, Kingston; Amanda Hansen, DeKalb; Nicole Johnson-Worrell, Marengo; Melissa Lizer, DeKalb; Jacob Maxfield, DeKalb; Katrina Rager, Oregon; Samantha Schultz, DeKalb; and Ian Stanford-Hudspeth, DeKalb.
The tradition of pinning healthcare graduates originates with the nursing profession in 1860 when Florence Nightingale presented a lapel pin to her best students. Over the years, other healthcare professions have added the practice to their graduation traditions to symbolize an official initiation into the students’ chosen healthcare profession.
At the Kishwaukee College Radiologic Technology pinning, each graduate was pinned individually by Lori Damask, Clinical Site Coordinator, and congratulated by Marie Meadors, Radiologic Technology instructor. Each graduate then publicly recognized family and friends who had been supportive of their efforts while a student and gave each person a gerbera daisy in gratitude. Graduates, family and friends then enjoyed light refreshments in the Kishwaukee College Conference center Dining Rooms.
