(DeKalb) – William Cronon’s Nature’s Metropolis is a classic of American Environmental History. Cronon makes an argument for how and why Chicago became the center of the Midwest, articulating and examining the relationship between Chicago and the Midwest (city/countryside) and the natural environment to make a compelling and interesting book about the development of Chicago and its rise as a city.
